Coast to Coast for COCO!

Coast to Coast for COCO!

Wednesday 28th July 2010

This month has seen two groups of supporters getting on their bikes in aid of COCO. Both have taken on a different 'Coast to Coast' route and in total over £3300.00 has been raised so far from both groups, an amazing effort!

Ashley Sword from Foster Refrigerator recruited a team of over 10 people to cycle the C2C route from Tynemouth to Carlisle on the 1st and 2nd July. For many of the team this had been the first time they'd attemped to ride a bike since they were quite young! There were a few aches and pains to contend with on the first night when the team stopped in Wall but a few drinks and a meal helped ease the pain!

Gemma and Laura from COCO met the team in Wall and were able to tell them more about how their hard earned sponsorship would be spent in some of COCO's projects.

The team expect to have raised over £3000 from their challenge so a huge thanks must go to Ashley, John, Ajaz, Michael, John, Marc, Steve, Andrew, Zoe and David! The group are pictured in the photo above!

Rachel Kyle, Sarah Ritson, Alan Snaith and David Allan from the Northern Rock Foundation completed their Coast to Coast challenge from Whitehaven to Sunderland on the 10th and 11th July. Despite miserable weather the team conquered Hartside Pass and complete the 134 mile challenge.

Both of these groups have completed two demanding challenges and have also organised them independently of COCO, demonstrating that when you put your mind to it you can do anything for a good cause!

Thank you to both teams for all their hard work and support, we hope you had fun along the way too and you have some good memories to look back on!

Funds raised will go towards COCO's projects and will continue to give children living in poverty access to education and the healthcare they so desparately need.

If you would like to get on your bike for COCO, why not take part in 'Route 66', COCO's new one-day cycle challenge that takes place in Northumberland on Saturday 11th September. If you are interested please contact laura@coco.org.uk.
